Joy, purpose and connection. At Providence Living they’re more than just words, they’re our identity.

As part of our celebrations for National Long-Term Care Day on Saturday 13 June, we asked our staff what they loved most about working in long-term care and there was a resounding theme – our staff love the connection they’re able to build with our residents.

“Being a care aid is not just about doing a job, it is about building good and meaningful relationships with the residents. What I love the most is listening to their unique life stories and experiences. Most of them shares their valuable lessons that somehow help me to grow professionally.” Patrick, Care Aide at Providence Living at The Views.

The world of long-term care is a meaningful environment that our staff relish. It presents many unique challenges and opportunities every day and our staff at Providence Living love how rewarding and fulfilling it can be. Regardless of the role or position, staff across the organization are aligned in their passion for building connection with our residents.

“The thing I love most about working in long-term care is the opportunity to make a difference in residents’ lives everyday. Building trusting relationships, providing compassionate care, and seeing residents smile gives me a great sense of purpose and fulfillment.” Lyne, Staffing Clerk at Central City Lodge.

“Whether it’s providing care, sharing a conversation, or helping someone feel valued and respected, it’s incredibly rewarding to support residents with compassion and dignity while being part of a community that feels like family.” Richelle, Registered Nurse at Providence Living at The Views.

Our Home for Us model of care is a social-relational model focused on creating fulfilled, connected and purposeful lives for our residents. This model of care gives our staff the opportunity to build these strong emotional connections with our residents and further develop their passion for long-term care.

“What I love most about working in long-term care is the relationships we build with our residents. Over time, they become more than the people we care for – they become part of our daily lives. Every resident has a lifetime of stories, experiences, and wisdom to share, and it’s a privilege to be trusted to support them during this stage of their journey.” Louise, Household Care Aide at Providence Living at The Views.

At Providence Living, we’re committed to redefining seniors’ care across British Columbia and helping older British Columbians live fulfilled, connected and purposeful lives.
